You probably have heard about the wonders of e-Estonia, and our digital capabilities. This digital wonder is all about digital identity.
Digital documents connect an individual with his or her physical identity, but in an electronic environment. These documents can be used to showcase personal identification, confirm transactions, and provide e-signatures.
There are different digital documents used in Estonia, with the most common one being an ID card for Estonian citizens. There is also a residence permit card for non-citizens living permanently in Estonia, and an e-Resident digital ID that allows foreigners not living in Estonia to use Estonian e-services.
Please take notice that only the ID-card is eligible as a travel document.
