Libraries

Statistics show that one in two people in Estonia visit libraries with some frequency. In recent times, Estonian libraries have acted as community centers, hosting various events, and offering a variety of services.

The National Library of Estonia is probably the largest and most-influential library in Estonia, and also functions as a learning center, as well. This noteworthy establishment is always collecting and storing national cultural goods and informational resources, making them accessible to the patrons who pay a visit. The Estonian Children’s Literature Centre is dedicated to children's books, and also conducts research on children’s literature. Check out their websites to learn more.

Public libraries are supervised by local municipalities, corresponding to the basic needs of the people in their respective areas. ESTER is a common electronic catalogue within all Estonian libraries.
