Movie director Ilmar Raag Ilmar Raag is and Estonian media executive, actor, screenwriter and film director, best known for his socio-critical film The Class. 's new family film "Erik Kivisüda" (Erik Stoneheart) was festively premiered on December 4. The film will be released in theaters on December 9.
Synopsis: 11-year-old Erik has a heart of stone. It doesn't bother him that his parents don't have time for him, that he doesn't have any friends, or that he has to move into a house inherited from his great-aunt Brunhilda, which looks like a haunted castle. In the new house, Erik discovers that another family lives there, Maria, his age, with her father, whom Erik's parents plan to evict. Maria tells Erik that she has a secret plan to get Erik's family out of the house. In fact, he wants to find his missing mother to protect them from eviction. The two of them end up on a fairytale journey to the Two-Between World, and Erik discovers how hard it is to live with a heart of stone.
The film is based on the novel "The Pirate Game" (Mereröövlimäng) by the Estonian writer Sass Henno.
The film's budget is four million euros, which makes it the most expensive Estonian feature film of all time, which was made in cooperation with six countries - Estonia, Luxembourg, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Finland.
