The campaign lasts the whole of the 5th of September until midnight. The e-commerce association has checked the background of all participating e-shops, which ensures fair, safe, and convenient shopping. The Estonian E-commerce Association is an umbrella organization created in 2008, which includes nearly 500 companies, and the association also issues a safe shopping place trust mark.
"It is striking that most sellers today offer at least a 20% discount to buyers, but there are also discounts of 30-40% or even more," said Tõnu Väät, CEO of the Estonian E-Trade Union.
According to the data of the payment center, the e-commerce turnover tripled compared to a typical Monday. "If Estonians e-shop for 5-7 million euros a day, on the day of the joint campaign, they buy from online stores for 15-21 million euros," Väät commented.
Last year, e-shopping in Estonia grew by more than one billion euros, or 50%, which makes a total of 2.5 billion euros. "The share of e-commerce is already more than 20% of the total volume of retail trade. This year, e-commerce will probably already exceed 25% of the total turnover of the retail trade, growing by 20-30% every month compared to the year," Väät added. The viral campaign of the E-commerce Union usually happens twice a year, on the second Monday of November and May.
