Tallinn is hosting its first Urban Space Festival, "Tulevik on täna/v" (The Future is Today)

The Festival focuses on the urban space, future perspectives of the Estonian capital, and climate issues. The Festival takes place on the Rävala Puiestee and thus is closed for traffic. Although the street is closed, public transport will run as usual.

"The Future is Today" offers a wide range of different activities.
The program started at noon yesterday as well as today. The festival area is open for visitors until 1:00 at night. Throughout the area, you will find street games, hammocks, food gatherers, and places to rest and enjoy the urban setting. There are three exhibitions set up at the fair.

"From car people to street people, or why we need safer and stress-free streets," the curator is Hannes Aava, graphic designer Mette Mari Kaljas. The exhibition concentrates on the effect of cars on humans and society based on scientific research.

"tänaVRuum" the curator is Eneli Kleemann, Marie Anette Veesaar, Mia Martina Peil, and Liisa Østrem. Through virtual reality devices, the exhibition shows people what Tallinn Tallinn, the largest city and capital of Estonia (population 440 000). 's main streets and conjunctions could look like according to the planning of progressive European cities.

Traveling exhibition "Kodukoha kompass"(The Compass of Home); the executor of the display is the Estonian Cooperation Council. This exhibition has traveled through the small cities of Estonia since 2020. The local cafeterias offer food and drinks on the street, including Jahu, Lendav Maaler, Peps, NR99 courtyard cafe. Food trucks Metsik Kohv, Kooker, Keretäis, KrõbeRäim, Faina Ukraina are also there to offer you pleasent filling.

At 16:30, the duo of Robert Linna and Marten Kuningas will give a rush hour concert. The duet of Linna & Kuningas will perform with both acoustic and electric guitars, added with poems from Marten Kuningas's poetry collection and the combined creation of both artists. The concert is free of charge.

At half past nine in the evening, you will have an opportunity to participate in the nighttime movie session. Two films will be on the screens with themes of climate and environment.

At 21:30, a French movie with Estonian subtitles, "Loom," is shown. At 23:45, an English movie, "A Life On Our Planet," is shown with English subtitles. In case of heavy rain, the Night Movie will not take place. The Festival provides some seats; however, it recommends bringing your foldable chair, picnic blanket, and warmer clothes.

Eight workshops are at the Festival, of which you can participate during the day. The workshops will offer you 3-30 minutes worth of activities in each booth, from exercising to gardening and accessible play areas to learn how to travel on a bicycle in the city. You can try how it is to move around in an urban space with a wheelchair, guide dog, or a white cane. There is also a workshop that teaches you to recycle correctly.
