During the meeting held in New York during the opening week of the UN General Assembly, the presidents of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland considered it necessary to strengthen sanctions when discussing the response to Russia's military aggression.

"The pressure on Russia to end the war must continue, and for this we are working on proposals for new restrictive measures to be imposed on Russia," said President Alar Karis President of Estonia.  .

The presidents of the four countries were of the opinion that the UN General Assembly must give a clear message to the countries of the Global South that Russia is a threat to everyone's peace and security and violates the UN Charter.

"If we allow the aggression of one of the permanent members of the UN Security Council to happen in Ukraine, no country will be safe," said Karis.

The heads of state of the Baltic states and Poland recognized that the countries and representatives of the European Union must be more active in explaining our positions.

The four heads of state also talked about energy security and the measures planned for the upcoming heating season, which should help citizens cope with higher energy costs.
