The Black Nights Film Festival starts today and runs until November 27.
The second BNFF Lifetime Achievement Award and the laureate of the Bruno O´Ya Young Actor Scholarship will be announced at the ceremony starting at 6 p.m. in the Alexela Concert Hall.
The opening film of the festival is the drama-comedy "My Neighbor Adolf" by the Israeli director Leon Prudovsky, in which a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust begins to suspect that his new neighbor is Adolf Hitler. The film also introduces BNFF's focus program on Israel, this year's guest country. The director and one of the main actors, David Hayman, will be present.
In total there are 232 long and 230 short films from 75 countries were scheduled for the festival. 23 films are nominated for the grand prize of 20,000 euros. The work of the jury is led by Golden Bear winner and Oscar-nominated Hungarian Ildikó Enyedi. The five competition and 13 special programs feature 78 world premieres and 48 international premieres – more than ever before. The festival hosts nearly 1,500 guests from 60 countries.
At the same time as BNFF, the youth and children's film festival Just Film, the short film and animation festival BNFF Shorts, the Kinoff festival in Ida-Virumaa and the film industry event Industry@ Tallinn Tallinn, the largest city and capital of Estonia (population 440 000). & Baltic Event take place.
For participating, there are many different options available today. For example, David Bowie, Finnish karaoke or drifting accompanied by Tiësto. Everyone has their own tuning, on which to stretch the mind between moral dilemmas or just to empty the mind for a few moments.
