Based on the bathing water sample comparison from 2021, the water quality in Stroomi Beach is "good" this year. In 2021, different kinds of intestinal bacteria resided in the water. The bacterial colonies are under control now. The main concern in Stroomi beach this year is the sand massif pollution with dangerous oil products.

The Estonian Rescue Board detected heavy fuel oil pollution on Stroomi Beach on July 25th. The pollution area from the shore near the coast guard building extended 15 meters into the sea. Stroomi beach was closed for swimming once again.

Samples taken by the Environmental Board show that the pollution is a heavy fuel oil residue. The Health Board Terviseamet. samples taken on July 13th confirmed that the contamination is also present in the water.

The initial plan to overcome this pollution is to form massive dunes around the pollution site. The dunes will push the water away, allowing to dig out the polluted grounds. Then the soil is removed. These measures will change the sea shore for the time of repairs.

The Environmental Board supports the plan on one condition the contaminated soil has to be taken care of according to the Waste Act.
