Estonia is small, so we don't have many scientists, world-famous laboratories, or the high funding for science that is typical in wealthier countries. Regardless, Estonian research is relevant to the upper 50% in the world, and is becoming more and more internationally recognized. Our scientists' main focus is specialization to boost the growth of research in ICT, health technologies and services, and effective use of resources. Our strongest expertise is digital innovation, materials science, electrical engineering, and biotechnology. If you aren't big, you have to be smart, and this is exactly what Estonia is aiming for!
