From Thursday, December 1st, fishing cards for 2023 can be purchased on the kalaluba.ee website. Before submitting a new application, it is necessary to make sure that the catch reports of the previous permits have been submitted. The catch report must be submitted even if there was no fishing or no catch was obtained while fishing.
According to Aimar Rakko, head of the hunting and aquatic life office of the Environmental Board, fishing cards run out faster in small lakes and Lake Võrtsjärv, but fishing cards are distributed for a longer period at sea. "Usually, the number of applicants for fishing cards is higher in small lakes and Lake Võrtsjärv. Permits for gillnets intended there run out faster. At sea, on the other hand, they are distributed for a longer time. Since the time when the validity of gillnet permits went from 7 days per month, they are distributed to many more anglers," said Aimar Rakko.
Paper fishing card applications will be accepted as direct contact at the offices of the Environmental Board only on December 1, between 9 and 10 a.m. After that, completed applications can be left in the office's mailbox or you can buy a fishing card online at kalaluba.ee.
You can buy a fishing card online only for yourself. The application for a fishing card can also be submitted on behalf of another person at the Environmental Board. A written power of attorney from the applicant is required for this.
"The reason is that, in addition to the right to fish, the fishing card also entails the obligation to submit a fishing report. We must not allow such a situation where someone, for example, without the knowledge of another, undertakes to submit a catch report to him, which can also lead to a financial penalty. That's why we have to make sure that the buyer of the fishing card really wanted it," explained the head of the hunting and aquatic life office of the Environmental Board.
Before submitting a new application, it is necessary to make sure that the catch reports of the previous permits have been submitted. The catch report must be submitted even if there was no fishing or no catch was obtained while fishing. Catch data can be submitted electronically on the website kalaluba.ee, at Keskonnamaet on site or by mail. Data debtors cannot apply for a new fishing license.
