While secondary education is mainly aimed at students who wish to continue their education at a university, vocational school prepares students who want to enter the labor market. Please note that it is possible to enter some vocational schools directly after 9th grade, or even with an unfinished "basic" education. The good news is that vocational education is free of charge, and many schools offer flexible learning opportunities.
There are 5 different levels in Estonian vocational education. The higher the level, the more difficult it will be for applicants to get accepted into the program. It is not uncommon for people who already have a profession to decide to take up courses again, in order to learn new skills and/or change occupation.
There is a wide range of specialities that can be obtained through vocational education schools. Many companies collaborate with vocational schools to offer opportunities for apprenticeships, and job opportunities for graduates.
Different vocational education levels and schools have different criteria for admission. It is best to contact the school you are interested in directly, and ask for specific information about admission for the program you are interested in.
